There’s a lot happening in the Music Ministry. Find out more here:
Philosophy
Our philosophy centers on these important concepts:
- First and foremost, that God is worthy of the deepest and most whole-hearted worship and praise we can offer Him.
- The life we live here on earth is full of distractions and temptations that pull us away from this kind of devotion and service to God.
- The best way to help others break through the effects this world has on them is to show them something greater, namely the power, glory, grace, mercy, love, faithfulness and holiness of the one, true and living God.
We believe that this kind of service must flow out of the life that each individual lives before God in christian community with others.
Mission
In keeping with this philosophy, the mission of the Contemporary Worship Team is to exalt and magnify God through biblical, Christ-centered worship music and prayer, and to inspire people to pursue a lifestyle of worship that glorifies our Lord in thought, word, deed and attitude.
Worship has been misunderstood as something that arises from a feeling which “comes upon you,” but it is vital that we understand that it is rooted in a conscious act of the will, to serve and obey the Lord Jesus Christ.— Graham Kendrick
Goals
The Contemporary Worship Team’s part in this is to provide a worship environment that is distraction-free and marked by an unassuming and inconspicuous excellence in our musical presentation and to model worship for the congregation by acting as “lead worshipers’. By “unassuming and inconspicuous excellence” we mean that, while high quality is essential, it is not our end goal, the glory of God is, and so we seek to achieve an excellence that never draws attention to itself.
As worship begins in holy expectancy, it ends in holy obedience. Holy obedience saves worship from becoming an opiate, an escape from the pressing needs of modern life.— Richard Foster
